Great for ages 5+ This game is a good game. I can see it getting old if you have finished the "assignments". It really is very easy but I think you might need to be 5+ to play without frustration. You basically just ride around and ask your instructor what to do. Hell give you assignments like "run this trail" or "go find the water to water your horse". But my 5 year old probably would give it a 7 out of 10 stars and I think its decent.

My five year old daughter loves this game! My five year old daughter has played the Barbies Fashion Show for the pc and loves that game. So she was thrilled to have this new game for her DS. She gives the game five stars.

My daughter's favorite DS game! We have had this game for about two weeks now and my 6-year-old daughter has played nothing else since we bought it. It was easy for her to figure out on her own, whichisn't always the case with DS games. She loves to groom the horses and pick out riding outfits for Barbie. But her favorite thing is taking her horse through the jumping course and winning ribbons. There are a bunch of other activities and mini-games too. I would highly recommend this game to young girls, especially those who are horse-crazy like mine!

It's okay for a 5 year old girl I have a 5 year old daughter and she likes the game; she doesn't love it nor does she hate it. She does like the mini-games because some of them are simple. There are some that are a bit more challenging for a 5 year old and she tends to panic and give the remote to me in those instances (but then again she's only 5 years old). Her 7 year old brother will even play with her a bit on it. It's not a deep game but it does hit close enough to the 5 year old girl range.

My 5 year old loves this I bought this for my daughter when she was just turning 4. It is great because you don't need to know how to read in order to play. My daughter loves decorating the castle, and has played it over and over again. For some reason it gets frozen when she tries to print pictures that she makes, but other than that it is well worth the money for any little girl into princesses.

Not the quality/fun of the prior Barbie games This game is a Christmas present for our bright 6.5-year old, and after about an hour of play, she's pronounced it good, but not as much fun as the other Barbie games (she has Barbie of Swan Lake, Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus and Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses) which were all solid 5 stars.
Continuing the progression of more advanced/smooth-running graphics in each new game, this one is visually very appealing, but the 'mini game' format is more like a collection of arcade games than a story. In Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus, for example, Barbie went through the levels of the game to defeat the evil Wenlock (?sp). Here, the gamesare completely separate with no ultimate goal. From a parent's point of view, that's bad.
Also, the games themselves don't seem the least educational...just games with no skill building, although to be fair, we have seen only about half the games so far.
Last, many games do require a bit of reading, so it's not suitable for children who are pre-readers. My 1st grader can read about 80% of the instructions, and I would say most of the UI (User Interface) designers don't have children, as the words in the documentation could have been simplified. Despite both of us reading the directions on the 'buncha bananas' game, it didn't seem to work, as Barbie would not move forward more than a few steps.
In summary, while my daughter is enjoying the game, I don't expect it to hold her attention for repeat play as the other Barbie games have. I suspect this game was rushed out for Christmas delivery, and would have benefitted from a little more thoughtful design that would have tied the plot lines of the book and movie into the game.

An epic failure when compared to the original Barbie Fashion Show. The premise of this game is to complete fashion assignments by designing fashions that follow a certain theme, choose models, and put on a fashion show where you choose poses, decorate the stage, etc., just like the original Barbie Fashion Show.
However, this doesn't come close to being as good as the original Barbie Fashion Show game Barbie Fashion Show. The first thing I noticed, is that it is so similar to the original that it completely lacks originality as a sequel. For example it follows much the same format and uses all the same themes for the fashion shows as the first one did. Although the clothing patterns and fabric patterns are somewhat different, and in two of the shows you get to design outfits for guys, those are the only real differences.
It is apparent that less attention was paid to detail when designing this version. For example: The solid color fabrics are completely flat, while in the original they all had nice fabric textures. Many of the patterned fabrics had patterns so large that they didn't look right on most of the clothing pieces, in fact they seem very bright and clown-like. Also, the decal stamps were all large and there were fewer of them. The models on the model board are carbon copies of each other only with different hair color and skin tones. You are not given different fabric when designing fashions for the men, so you are required to use the same girly fabric on their clothes too. The men also use the same feminine poses on the runway. I found it nearly impossible to make an outfit that didn't look ridiculous. The choices for bridal gowns were especially horrific.
In addition to the afformentioned shortcomings, all the models and fashion show stages are covered in triangular shadows. This may be a graphics glitch specific to my machine, but I double-checked and I have the latest graphics drivers and meet all the recommended system specs. An e-mail to Activision Customer Support to address this issue has yet to illicit a response from them. At this point it is hard to tell if others will be affected by this issue or not.

The bottom line is this: If you have the original Barbie Fashion Show, this one will disapoint you. If you are undecided bewteen the two, get the original and steer clear of this one.
This is a poor quality product and may just be a blatant attempt by Activision to capitalize on the success of the original Barbie Fashion Show without having to expend much time or effort. It shows.
Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses is the story of Barbie as Genevieve, 1 of 12 sisters who live happily with their father the king. Concerned that the high-spirited, independent princesses need more structure to become proper princesses, the king invites his cousin, the Dutchess Rowena to move into the castle. Rather than help, Rowina forbids the sisters from singing and dancing and squelches their individuality. The princesses discover a magical enchanted world and escape the tyranny of Rowena. But when Genevieve learns that their father's life is in danger, the sisters must unite to save the king and their kingdom.

Twyla the cat and the flowers was my daughter's only complaint I cannot stress enough that you read Kaptain Kyle's review of this game. After we read his review it took us only 5 to 10 minutes to beat the "Twyla catching flowers" game. (Thank you, Kaptain Kyle!)
My 7 year old daughter ripped through thisgame in approx. 5 hours total. Granted, she has played all of the other Barbie games so she has some prior experience with the Barbie format, so it might have been easier for her than other kids who haven't had the prior experience. The second day she had the game she played the game from beginning to end 3 times. She absolutely adores it. I suspect she'll play it quite a few more times before tiring of it.
Good game with the exception of the "Twyla/flowers" hurdle.

Not like other Barbie PS2 games Make sure before you purchase this one that you understand it is not like other Barbie games where you get to move through a world. This only has mini games. I purchased it for Christmas, but in the meantime my daughter rented it. She played with it for about twenty minutes before deciding that it just wasn't any fun. She loves the 12 Dancing Princess PS2 game and adores the new Bratz the Movie PS2 game. Unfortunately this game was nowhere near as great as the movie.

Great barbie game If your daughter is into the barbie movies this is great. The graphics are wonderful cute game. Some parts are a little difficult even for 8yrs.old but it shows actual barbie clips from the movie, which is very nice for young girls or boys. If they like the barbie movie itself.
