Nothing makes one more keenly aware of health risks lurking in the everyday world than becoming a parent. Most know the importance of using cabinet locks and child gates, but research is showing many more ways we need to be childproofing our homes. Tens of millions of American childrennow face chronic diseases and illnesses including cancer, autism, asthma, birth defects, ADD/ADHD, allergies, learning and developmental disabilities, as well as a host of lesser but disruptive ailments. And the growing research points to much of the increases on unseen threats wrought by exposure to chemicals in everyday products like cleaning supplies, beauty care and cosmetics, home furnishings, plastics, some foods and toys as contributing to these ailments. With that in mind, the non-profit organization Healthy Child Healthy World offers parents a definitive guide to creating a healthy, nontoxic, and environmentally sound home.
Filled with easy steps and simple solutions to improve family living without wreaking havoc on schedules or budgets, this book includes inspiring ideas for safe, eco-friendly cleaning methods, choosing healthier food, pet and garden care, nursery and home building materials, plus extensive tips for energy saving and family fun. REVIEW
Inspirational I have read several books and articles on "green living" over the past couple of years and I think this is one of the best. It discusses so many aspects of living a healthier, safer life and gives many practical solutions to cleaning up our own environments to benefit us and the earth. It has inspired to me to take further steps beyond what I've already done to make a greener, safer home for my family.
One thing I did not like aboutthis book was the personal stories added in each chapter. While it's nice to learn that some of our Hollywood elite are concerned with ecology issues, it frustrated me to read their stories. They make it sound so easy and practical to just trash everything you own and start from scratch with organic mattresses, flooring, furniture, etc. It's hard enough for me to budget for all the organic food and natural health products I buy; there is no way I could feasibly do everything the contributing celebrities are able to do.
Overall though, I thought this book was well-written, veryinteresting, well-researched.

REVIEW
Great play food for all ages My son is technically too young for this toy (18 mos.), but only the carrots and celery were choking hazards and he LOVES the other items. (We put the veggies away for when he's older.) The strawberries, grapes, crackers, pretzels, and yogurt are all big hits. The yogurt container was somewhat crushed in the shipping process, but we chose not to return it because our son was so excited to play with it. The best part is that he pretends to eat his play food when we are having a snack, and doesn't beg as much for our food.

Good tool for learning This is a good item f you are teaching people about ordering at a restaurant or about the food groups. I just wish there were more magnets with a larger variety of food. We supplemented this set by cutting out pictures from a magazine and mounting them on magnetic sheets.

very realistic! Everything is life sized, and very realistic!
The pile of spagetti noodles is a very hefty portion and probably won't fit on my sons play dishes, but he rarely uses the dishes anyway.
This is the second set of Learning Resources play food sets I have purchased, seems kind of pricy, but well worth the money if you are interested in lifelike, quality play food. I highly recommend these products!

Church Nursery Tested- A Hit! We gave this to our church nursery with the Healthy Breakfast set. The 18 mos-3 yo kids just love it. It gets played with every week. It has held up fabulously. I bought the huge 90 pc set for my 3yo DD. She just loves playing with all the food. I was back and forth trying to decide between this food and Haba wooden food. I am glad I chose this. It's wonderful, durable and realistic. My daughter prefers it over the Melissa and Doug wooden food she has.

Fun Assortment This is a really nice assortment of foods for pretend play. It is very durable and pretty realistic looking (some more than others). We have had the Sandwich Set from Learning Resources for many years now, and it has really stood the test of time. The Healthy Play Foods seems to be just as high quality and it really rounds out the variety in the kitchen, or grocery!
