May not function properly on your PC This is a good product, once you get it launched. After installation on my WinXP SP2 box, it would not launch properly and repeatedly displayed a Visual C++ error message about not finding an entry point or some such thing. When you dismiss the alert dialog box, every subsequent move of the mouse triggers its display again. Only after several tries was I able to get into the program successfully. Furthermore, it changes the screen resolution when you select the full screen display option. It does not consistently restore your previous resolution upon exiting. These anomalies reoccurred each time I attempt to use the program.
The lessons that I completed are fun, engaging and instructive. Each lesson has one or more related games which serve to reinforce the material covered in the main lesson. But because it appears to have some serious compatibility issues, at least with my PC, I cannot give it a higher rating. So be advised that this application may or may not work properly on your system.

NO SUPPORT So far I've spent hours trying to learn this product, and I finally got the hang of it to do very basic stuff. The biggest issue that I have with this product is that Sony does NOT give any technical support, not unless you buy a technical support package, which consists of $14.95 fee each time you call for help!
I called Sony before I purchased the product and asked them if they had a certain feature, the sales rep said yes. She told me to try it out, download a free trial and a Tech Support person would help me with any questions. Because she told me they had the feature I was looking for, I went ahead a purchased the product instead. Well, now I'm finding out that Sony will help those with trial versions, but not those that have already purchased.
If you're not familiar with the normal jargon for music software, you'll have a harder time figuring this out. Especially since no one at Sony will walk you through anything. The tutorial is a joke! It doesn't address a lot of issues, so now I have this new product I paid Sony for and they won't even help me figure it out without shelling out more money.
Anyone that writes a positive review about Sony's technical support or tutorials is probably a manager at Sony trying to make their product sound better than what it really is.
If you already know terminology such as loops, BPM's, Track FX, Soft Synth, snapping, crossfades, compressors, Marker, Region....then you'll breeze through this product. If music software is new to you, buy another product where they'll actually support you after you buy their product.

Pretty dang good for around 30 dollars! I love this program! I like to doodle around and attempt melodic dictation. Plus it's really helpful since I'm a music major, and can put in music and hear what it sounds like. Although it has no grace notes. Other than that, there's nothing bad I can say about it. It's wonderful. I like that you can change the sounds of the instruments so that if I have to use weird instruments because that staff is weird, I don't have to hear it that way (ex. 4 lines of piano music, with 3 treble clefs and only one bass clef, so I used piccolo, flute, oboe, and bassoon, then changed it so it sounds like piano) And it works beautifully with my Mac, no problems at all. :D

Easy and Good Well, I can only say I have tried a few others as well in demo form, but Magix musicmaker looked the most funand easy so I went with it. I think most other ones on this price range were more complicated.
I got most of the basic stuff fairly easily and I am a beginner on the software stuff. the magix music studio was complicated. basically try all the free demo versions of various stuff to see what you like. this most likely is one of the best for the price.

Outgrowing the 5 tracks on your keyboard? U want more? I know U do. For the hobby keyboardist who has the 5 track built in recorder on the keyboard, but who wants to make a hot mix for a smokin' demo, or who wants to edit any audio or midi song, or to just study a full score like 'The Magnicicent Seven', I highly recommend Music Creator4.
I had used and had enjoyed the first Cakewalk software many years ago, before MP3, when most reasonably priced keyboards did not have built in sequencers or independent track recording. MC-4 is much better (graphics, sound FX, controls, looping, everything). Even if you have forgotten, or if you are slightly intimidated by a gazillion knobs and switches, or if you are just clueless, there are tutorials provided to get you started.
After installation the proverbial 'they' will display that product registration is required. Yuk! I first had to figure out how toget sounds from my Yamaha keyboard. (I think Cakewalk dates Roland.) That was the only small challenge. I found support from Cakewalk's community/blog webpage. Now, it is all fun...and learning...even multiple tracks for multiple versions for the timpani part of Elmer Bernstein's masterpiece.

The best music software I've seen so far Late last year, I bought Finale SongWriter 2007, thinking that the fifty-dollar software would be enough for me to compose music for my cartoons. However, after nearly a year of not being satisfied by its limitations, I finally paid an extra $50 for an upgrade to Finale PrintMusic 2009, and I do not regret it. For one thing, SongWriter is limited to how many staves of music you can put in it, and PrintMusic doesn't seem to have that limitation. It can also do grace notes, and other things that SongWriter couldn't. I originally sought out to buy PrintMusic anyway, but I thought it would be a bargain to buy the other program instead. Better late than never, I guess.

The best Midi Sequencer for less than 100 bugs This software is great. I also use music maker for loop arrangements, but music studio has a different philosophy. It is a great combination between audio recording and sequencing that you will also find in 4 times more expensive products such as Cubase. There are a lot of effects and vitual instruments included that you have to buy normally as stand alone. I love it because all you need in addition is a small midi keyboard and Soundcard with Asio support......really a nice product for musicians and bands. For an easy entry music maker would be the better choice.

Not as hard as you think If you have used Easy CD Creator before, you will love this program. I tried several other programs, free trial downloads (including Blaze)and found them hard to navigate and hard to get them to do what I want. The instructions are clear and easy to follow on Music Lab - the instruction window pops up IN the program so you can read the instructions and perform them simultaniously. I cleaned and tracked 2, 2 hour, downloaded satellite radio programs in 30 minutes and ripped them to cds. I download alot of DJ sets so I am very pleased with what I can do.
