The Emperor's New School is an American animated television series on the Disney Channel.

The Emperor's New Groove - The New Groove EditionThe Emperor's New School is an American animated television series on the Disney Channel. This show is follow-up series to the Disney movie The Emperor's New Groove. It features all four members of the core cast (Yzma, Kronk, Pacha, and Kuzco) from the movie. In the TV series, Kuzco (the emperor on which the show and movie are based) has to pass all his classes in the kingdom's school (fittingly named Kuzco Academy) before he is able to rule again.

This show does not include all of the voice actors from the original movies. Eartha Kitt, Patrick Warburton, and Wendie Malick return as Yzma, Kronk, and Chicha (respectively), making them the only three actors to be part of all three "New" projects. J.P. Manoux reprises his role as the voice for Emperor Kuzco (as he did on the Disney Channel series "House of Mouse"), replacing David Spade, who voiced the ruler in both movies. The Buzz on Maggie star Jessica Di Cicco voices the new character Malina. Fred Tatasciore, Ben 10 voice actor of Ripjaws, voices Pacha instead of John Goodman.

In Australia, it recently began airing as part of the Seven Network's Saturday Disney program. Seven has a long-term program supply agreement with Disney/Buena Vista.

The second season of the show is set to premiere in March 2007.

Although some have disputed the timeline, the show comes after The Emperor's New Groove (and possibly before Kronk's New Groove). While the series refers to Kuzco as an "Emperor to Be", meaning he is, perhaps, younger in the series (in the original movie, he turns 18), many more items point to the more commonly held view.

Firstly, given the fact that Kronk has also enrolled in the school, there is no reason to fix Kuzco's age at younger than 18. Secondly, Pacha met Kuzco in the movie and would not know him in the series if it came before the movies.

Also, it has been said that Kuzco Academy is a college, and the reason Kuzco is not the emperor is because a rule was found stating that Kuzco must finish school in order to become the emperor. Some times in the show it states that Kuzco was an emperor but lost his title

The first episode, "Rabbit Face", features Pacha's entire family, including baby Yupi. Chicha was pregnant with Yupi during the first movie, firmly placing the entire series afterwards.

The episode "Peasant for a Day" sets most of these issues straight also. Kronk states explicitly that Kuzco is not an Emperor (although the behavior of certain other characters throughout the series holds some degree of reverence towards him still), and Malina tells him that he is merely a villager, despite his attitude and ego. As a villager, he wears his poncho with a llama motif, given to him by Chicha at the end of the first movie. The episode refers to Kuzco having fired Yzma in the past, and three of Kuzco's animal transformations, including a llama, again as in the first movie. This transformation would come to be referenced in a number of other episodes, such "The Mystery of Micchu Pachu". In this episode, Kuzco hears about a myth of another emperor's advisor turning another emperor into an anteater, and Kuzco remarks about being turned into a llama as if being an anteater makes it a more fortunate situation.

"Kuzco Fever" briefly deals with how Kuzco came to live with Pacha and his family, showing that Kuzco is completely cut off from his luxurious lifestyle until he finishes school. However, it is not entirely accurate that Kuzco has been removed from power pending his graduation from the academy. He still has some access to the palace guards, and, in "Cart Wash", he fires (and later re-hires and fires again) the royal chartmaker for stimulating his conscience. However, it is frequently made clear that if he should fail to graduate of his own accord (a loophole that Yzma continuously tries to exploit), he will lose all eventual rights to the throne.

The show's position in relation to Kronk's New Groove is less clear. This question, unlike the show's connection to The Emperor's New Groove, is much more open to debate. It is possible that the series and Kronk's New Groove are two separate continuities. In the series, Kronk is still working for Yzma and is single, but in Kronk's New Groove he retires as Yzma's lackey and gets married during the closing credits. In the beginning of Kronk's New Groove, Yzma is pictured with a cat's tail, claiming it was a side effect from her kitten transformation at the end of The Emperor's New Groove. She does not, however, have a tail in the series.

Also if the series takes place after Kronk's New Groove, it is shown that Yzma turned herself into a rabbit only to be captured by a hawk, then later to be shown in the nest of hungry looking hawk babies.
