New key from Disney restricts kids use of the computer and internet.
Bandai Co. and Buffalo Inc. said Monday they have jointly developed a "key" to be inserted into a personal computer's USB port to deny young children access to pornographic or other objectionable Web sites.
Japan Times -

The key also restricts what software kids can use and limits the time they can spend on the computer, according to the toy maker and the Nagoya-based computer peripheral manufacturer.

After it's plugged in, the key turns the screen to a setting featuring Walt Disney characters and plays a short opening video.

The key comes in two models, one featuring Mickey Mouse and the other Winnie the Pooh.

Designed for kids aged 6 to 9, they are scheduled to go on sale Sept. 14 through major home electronics stores and other dealers for about ¥3,480.

The device runs on Windows XP and Windows Vista.
