Radio Disney will launch a multi-platform daily programming feature, "Next Big Thing" (“N.B.T.”), that puts the spotlight on young recording artists and provides them a platform to get their music heard on a national basis. Debuting on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4, "N.B.T." introduces new, unsigned talent to Radio Disney listeners and invites those listeners to look, listen and vote for their favorite new artist at RadioDisney.com or by texting NBT to DISNEY (347639) on web-enabled cell phones. The new artist with the most votes will perform at an exclusive Radio Disney concert. Photos, two full songs and interviews with all new artists will be available at RadioDisney.com and the “N.B.T.” mobile website. Stars who have launched multi-faceted careers with a strong assist from Radio Disney include Jonas Brothers, Hilary Duff, Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana, Alyson and Amanda Michalka, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Raven-Symone and The Cheetah Girls (Adrienne Bailon, Sabrina Bryan and Kiely Williams). Michael Riley, senior vice president and general manager, Radio Disney, said: "We're giving kids and families a chance to hear talented new singers and songwriters and to share their opinion on the music, and we're providing budding young artists with wide exposure on our powerful broadcast and online media platforms."
"N.B.T." artists will be featured every two weeks over a 22-week period. The "N.B.T." winner will be announced Monday, March 30, 2009.
