Each year, we all spend countless hours trying to figure out what the best flannel shirt Uncle Joe or for your cousin’s kids who you haven’t seen since last holiday season or perhaps that summer bar-b-q. For many, holiday shopping is a source of stress and frustration, but in recent years, many adults have shifted from traditional gifts to the exchanging of Gift Cards.
Last year, we completed about 50% of our holiday shopping for relatives by giving gift cards. Toys R Us cards for the kids, Game Stop cards for the teens and assorted gift cards for the grownups. The kids and teens are easy. We know where they love to shop, but this year, we’re trying something new. We’re going to give everyone Amazon Gift Cards so they can go right online that night and buy whatever it is they want.
We have a piece of mind this year, knowing that Aunt Jody isn’t going to be upset about the pattern on the sweater we bought a Macy’s and she doesn’t have to worry about being caught exchanging it the next day. Gift Cards from Amazon offer a unique opportunity for shoppers in that they have pretty much everything you want and they offer gift cards in many different varieties.
For long distance friends, they have mail and email options for gift card delivery and you can send them instantly or recieve them via snail mail in 3 to 7 days depending on where you live.
Visit Amazon to check out their many Amazon Gift Cards and options for taking the headache out of Holiday Shopping.

For most Americans, Black Friday has always been the Friday after Thanksgiving. The day large retailers such as Wal Mart, Target and K-Mart open in the early morning hours and offer amazing holiday shopping opportunities for those brave souls who trek out in the dark cold morning after Thanksgiving. The stores lure consumers in with low priced door busters hoping that after purchasing the low priced items, shoppers continue their holiday shopping at that store.
This year, Black Friday falls on November 27th, but online reailer, Amazon.com has announced on their website that Black Friday will start on Monday, November 23rd, 4 full days before the traditional brick and mortar outlets.
Hoping this year to gain a piece of the Black Friday marketshare, Amazon has aggressively stepped up efforts to promote their online event, allowing weary shoppers the ability to do all of their Holiday shopping from the comfort of their own home.
If Amazon’s “Gold Box” deals is any indication of what to expect for their week long Black Friday event we can expect savings up to 70% on many items. This week for instance, Amazon has “Gold Box” deals on power tools, watches, laptops, cameras, gps units and more, some with savings up to 72% off.
So if you’re a Black Friday shopper, be sure not to miss next week’s Amazon Black Friday sale online and beat the rush on the 27th.

Jackson, NJ – This past weekend, the Awakening rang in the 2009 Fright Fest at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey. At 6pm each night this month, Great Adventure rises from the dead as the 18th annual Fright Fest has begun.
The party starts with the Awakening of Dr. Fright, the Master of Ceremony and host of the largest Halloween party in the area. As the funeral procession makes its way through the park, Dr. Fright is awakened on the stage at the Big Wheel once again this year. Prior to 2008, the awakening took place at the bloody fountain.
The entire theme park is decorated, although not as lavishly as in previous years and transformed into an all-night haunting ground where ghouls, zombies, freaks and undead roam the park chasing guests and scaring the life out of them.

Along with the roaming actors, three sections have been converted into haunted midways including the Lakeside Graveyard and the Circus Psycho, where escaped mental patients have been set free in the boardwalk section of the park.
The main attraction at Fright Fest is Dead Man’s Party, celebrating it’s 10th year of production. The musical zombie laden stage show has grown to become an attraction in itself and draws freaks and fiends from the entire northeast United States for performances. The show has built up a huge fan following over the years that has reached a near cult status.
New in 2009 is a Michael Jackson tribute show at the bloody fountain called The Ghoulmaster’s Ghosts. The Dolphin Discovery’s Voyage to Voodoo Island is also a crowd favorite as the park’s aquatic residents put on a frighteningly good show.
There’s lots to do and see at Fright Fest each night at Great Adventure and if you have younger children, don’t worry, there are plenty of safe havens for them and park staff issues ghoul repellent whistles which will protect them from the most evil demons in the park.
Check back regularly for updates on this year’s Fright Fest including video, reviews, photos and helpful guides to help you get through another ghoulish fest at Great Adventure. Fright Fest runs until November 1st this year.

Creep Critters lurk at Six Flags Great Adventure

Jackson, NJ – For many, Fright Fest begins each night at 6:00 with the Awakening when the park transforms into a dark and creepy abode for the undead, the psychos and the strange, but for kids, Fright Fest is an all day ticket. At night, the main attraction of course is Dead Man’s Party and the Terror Trails, but by day, Professor Slithers and his not so creepy critters are the main attraction for the kids in one of Great Adventure’s most popular Fright Fest shows for the wee ones.
Professor Slithers starts each show in the hopes of scaring the wits out of children with creepy critters such as dragons, spikey creatures and dangerous snakes. Unfortunately for the dimwitted professor, his witch sidekick debunks his myths and cures him of his phobias by explaining to him and the children that the while they may sound creepy and dangerous, none of the critters pose any threat to people.
This year’s show features a critter which has hundreds of spikes that can shoot out at predators which the professor assures himself that he finally has a creepy critter, but it’s just a hedgehog. The addition of the hedgehog and the firing of the rabbit of years past added a fresh new “nintendo generation” take on things for children who thought hedgehogs were blue with spiked hair, walked on two feet and collected rings.
Creepy critters is one of the more educational, interactive and engaging shows for children at Fright Fest. At one point the professor invites the children on stage to dance. If you’re going to Great Adventure with kids during the day, make sure to treat them to at least one showing of Professor Slithers’ Creepy Critters.
Fright Fest: Voyage to Voodoo Island

Jackson, NJ - Jackson Township, New Jersey is the state’s premier Halloween hot spot each October, attracting tens of thousands of people daily to Six Flags Great Adventure for Fright Fest. One of the highlight attractions at Great Adventure has always been the Dolphin Shows at Fort Independence. This year, Davy Bones and his crew have returned for another Voyage to Voodoo Island.
The show runs nightly during Fright Fest and details the voyages of the bumbling crew as they fall under the spell of the witches’ voodoo and the captain is transformed into a California sea lion. The enchanting bottlenose dolphins perform their feats and in the end, all is returned to normal. The entire show runs about thirty minutes and is a special Halloween themed performance of magical mayhem and hilarious hijinks.
If you want to see the show, show up five to ten minutes prior to the printed start time as Great Adventure has always promptly closed the gates once the show starts for all dolphin shows with no exceptions and you don’t want to tote crying tots who missed the dolphins around the park the rest of the night!

Jackson, NJ – Each year at Fright Fest, dozens of actors don makeup and costumes to give park goers chills to go along with their theme park thrills. The driving force behind the creepy is a special makeup effects company called Anatomy FX, located on the New Jersey shore. Anatomy FX owner Tony Mandile has served as the makeup and FX supervisor for Six Flags Great Adventure’s “FRIGHT FEST” attraction in New Jersey since 1999, our town’s annual Halloween celebration requiring over one hundred actors in full makeup on a nightly basis.

Great Adventure’s Freak Show

Jackson, NJ - If you’re looking for a good freak show in Jackson Township, you have many options in 2009. First, you can head to town hall every other Tuesday night as the 2009 mayoral election race heats up. This trainwreck has been off the tracks for quite some time, but there’s even more freakish events going on in town. No, not at the upcoming candidate debates, but you’re sure to see a good freak show there too.
What I’m talking about is Professor Zombini’s Freak Show, a troupe of sideshow freaks performing amazing feats of oddity straight from Coney Island in the Circus Psycho (boardwalk) section of the theme park during the nightly Fright Fest attraction.
Professor Zombini stars the show with some good old firebreathing that will make the fiery rhetoric of local politicians seem like baby babble. If you thought you were something in high school for putting that cigarrette out on your tongue, you’re no match for Zombini’s fireeating abilities.

He is followed up by sword swallowing and yes, she did double deep throat 24 inches of hard steel! No, I didn’t get her number!

One of my highlights on the night was this poor chap who got his tongue caught in the mouse trap which was the inspiration for the whole Jackson Politics theme. It would be nice to see some of the vocal locals have to go through this for the lies they spread and the huge amounts of mudsligging going on in town this year.
So if you’re tired of the same old political freak show in Jackson, head on out to Great Adventure to see a not-so-different freak show of a not-so-different nature.
