Jackson, NJ – For many, Fright Fest begins each night at 6:00 with the Awakening when the park transforms into a dark and creepy abode for the undead, the psychos and the strange, but for kids, Fright Fest is an all day ticket. At night, the main attraction of course is Dead Man’s Party and the Terror Trails, but by day, Professor Slithers and his not so creepy critters are the main attraction for the kids in one of Great Adventure’s most popular Fright Fest shows for the wee ones.
Professor Slithers starts each show in the hopes of scaring the wits out of children with creepy critters such as dragons, spikey creatures and dangerous snakes. Unfortunately for the dimwitted professor, his witch sidekick debunks his myths and cures him of his phobias by explaining to him and the children that the while they may sound creepy and dangerous, none of the critters pose any threat to people.
This year’s show features a critter which has hundreds of spikes that can shoot out at predators which the professor assures himself that he finally has a creepy critter, but it’s just a hedgehog. The addition of the hedgehog and the firing of the rabbit of years past added a fresh new “nintendo generation” take on things for children who thought hedgehogs were blue with spiked hair, walked on two feet and collected rings.
Creepy critters is one of the more educational, interactive and engaging shows for children at Fright Fest. At one point the professor invites the children on stage to dance. If you’re going to Great Adventure with kids during the day, make sure to treat them to at least one showing of Professor Slithers’ Creepy Critters.
