happening in Mercer, New Jersey! Kite Day is a perfect time to explore the farm during our FREE spring festival - Saturday, May 3 & Sunday, May 4 - 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. Spring on the farm is one of the most beautiful and exciting seasons. All is ready for the bountiful growing season. Bring your own kite or choose a ready-made kite from the wide selection in the store. Or better yet, make a “guaranteed to fly” kite. Whichever you choose, test fly your kite in our wide-open 10-acre pasture with all the farm animals looking on. The farm will ring with country music and entertainment all weekend. The whole family can tour the orchards and fields while riding in a tractor-drawn farm wagon. The sheep will be shorn on Sunday and the children can take home a piece of real fleece. There will be special activities and games for children in the barnyard. For all those hungry kite fliers, we’ll have lots of good country food. The whole family will enjoy Terhune Orchards’ famous apples, cider, donuts, pies, country chili, hot dogs, our own fresh and grilled asparagus, salads, soup and all kinds of cookies and goodies. Parking at the farm. No admission charge. Call 609-924-2310 or visit www.terhuneorchards.com for more information.. This event

Monster Trucks return to Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton
None, NJ (January
11,2008) - The Monster Truck Winter Nationals return to Trenton is
happening in None, New Jersey! This weekend, you can see Monster Trucks live and up close at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, NJ. Here is our review from last year's Nationals.
Monster Truck Winter Nationals Jan. 11 @ 7:30pm Jan. 12 @ 2pm & 7:30pm Info Buy Tix
Big Foot and the Monster Truck Nationals will be at Sovereign Bank Arena this weekend. The show features Monster Truck racing, motocross racing, motorcycle freestyle events and of course.. monster trucks crushing cars. Its not too late to get tickets for Saturday's performances!
Friday night's performance played out to a crowd that filled about 1/3 of the seats of the 10,000 seat arena, but that didn't stop the monster truck fans from making a lot of noise.
The event started off with monster truck races, then followed by an eight lap amateur motocross race. The amateur race wasn't as interesting as the race that followed, a professional eight lap motocross race. The riders were more skilled, drove faster and competed harder in the second event.
Tuff trucks then made their appearance, three local entrants who put their homemade custom vehicles to the test. The first out the gate was a volkswagon mini station wagon which didn't fare too well, in fact, was not to be seen again for the rest of the night after nose diving into the dirt on the 4th jump.
After the race it was time for the final event in which favorite Big Foot lost to T-Maxx, however I could be mistaken. Either way it was a great race.
The night concluded with free style motocross where the riders jumped over the cars lined up and performed aerial stunts.
The evening's grand finale was each of the Monster Trucks crushing the stripped down white vehicles in the center of the ring. The crowd cheered at the destruction and the event ended on a fun note.
The show was pretty fun, however there could have been more music playing and less interruptions. The whole performance was a little over 2 hours, but I think it could have been done in an hour and a half or so.
I have been to Sovereign Bank Arena a couple of times in the past, when it first opened on business, so this was the first event I saw here. I went with my 4 year old daughter, who had an absolute blast.
The arena itself is great. There's not a bad seat in the house. Getting there was a bit of a puzzle, but thanks to a friendly person at the Trenton Titan's office we made it there ok. It's not exactly located in the nicest part of Trenton, but is very close to the major local highways. (we have been to the arena several times since this posting and realize now we confused the 95 with 195 with 295, not necessarily the arena's fault, but NJ has too many 95's).
About half way through the show, I got the "Daddy, I have to go potty!" whimper, so I clenched my teeth, walked my daughter up the stairs and was waiting for the surprises that await me behind door #1.. the men's room. I was extremely pleased to see that the arena had family bathrooms. What a relief! To me, this is the best feature of the arena and any parents with little girls would probably agree.
(since writing this article one year ago, on return trips to the arena, we were even more surprised to see "Family Bathrooms".)
Parking was $6, quick and easy to get in and out. I look forward to the upcoming Disney on Ice show next month. Sovereign Bank Arena definitely gets a family friendly thumbs up from GoKidsNJ!
