Asbury Park’s Guinness Oyster Festival returns on Saturday, October 6th from 12:00pm to 6:00pm on Cookman Avenue after a hiatus of four years. This event is packed with beer, oysters, shrimp and clams as well as some of the best Irish music on this side of the pond. The Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce proudly hosts this event. The first Guinness Oyster Festival in Asbury Park was held on Cookman Avenue in 2003 with 7,000 people in attendance. It was a great success. This year’s event will prove to be a momentous occasion with a well-known Irish headliner and the lineup filled with local and regional Irish bands. “ We are thrilled to host the Guinness Oyster Festival in Asbury Park and we invite everyone that wants to have a great time to come down and join the fun!” said Dennis Carroll, Retail Committee Chair, Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce. The Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce is growing with 180 members and a new executive board. The retail committee is a very active entity of the chamber that is proactively moving the downtown business district in a trajectory forward. Following the festival at 6:00pm First Saturday Asbury Park kicks in with all the stores open late for shopping and fine dining in our Zagat rated restaurants. The retail committee is the catalyst behind this event ensuring that each month has an exciting theme and ongoing momentum. Bring your carved pumpkin (along with a small votive candle) to be displayed and judged in age-appropriate categories. The hundreds of jack-o-lanterns cast a lovely light on a great night out in the cool autumn air.
