Watercolor and acrylic paintings of local scenes
MOSTLY FALL ART SHOW IN STOCKTON STOCKTON, NJ, November 9, 2008- Hunterdon County artist Mike Mann will show 27 paintings of local scenes in the Prall House program room from 12 noon to 5p.m. daily until November 23. A portion of the art sales will benefit the Delaware River Mill Society (DRMS). For a little more than a year, the artist has been working on a series of pictures he calls “Painting the Town”; many of those works are in this show. Prints of his paintings are also on sale. The artist will be at the Prall House each weekend during the show's run. “It’s wonderful to live in an area with so many beautiful scenes and the Prallsville Mills isone of my favorite places to paint,” Mann says. “I’m really thrilled be to exhibiting at the Prall House. The DRMS has done a fine job on creating a fascinating historic attraction as well a great venue for artists." Another scheduled art event for the Prallsville Mills is the annual “Images of the Mill Show” during the weekend of November 15 and 16. It will be held in the stone gristmill located directly across Route 29. Mann has been a regular participant in that event and says that this year he is submitting his most interesting entry yet. The piece is titled “Snow and Shadow”; the artist painted it during last winter’s big snowfall. Mann studied at the Art Students' League in NYC under former New York Daily News illustrator Joe Kidd. His watercolor and acrylic paintings are known for their vibrant colors and lively action. The artist can frequently be seen working at his easel in and around Stockton. The Prall House is located on NJ Route 29 on the north end of Stockton, NJ, across from picturesque Prallsville Mills.
