Horton Hears a Who is the latest Dr. Seuss film starring Jim Carey
Horton Hears a Who! is a 2008 CGI animated film based on the 1954 book by Dr. Seuss. It stars the voices of Jim Carrey and Steve Carell. It is being produced by Blue Sky Studios and released by 20th Century Fox. It is set to be released on March 14, 2008. This marks the first Dr. Seuss film not to be distributed by Universal Studios, both How the Grinch Stole Christmas! and DreamWorks' The Cat in the Hat were under the Universal Studios banner.
Instead, it will be distributed by 20th Century Fox. The film is also the first Dr. Seuss film to be fully computer-animated. This abides by the wishes of Seuss' widow, Audrey Geisel, after the release of the live-action remake of The Cat in the Hat, which apparently had too many "adult themes" in it. The film is rated G by the MPAA, being 20th Century Fox's fourth theatrically-released film to be rated G by the MPAA following Anastasia, Everyone's Hero, and Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium and also being the first Dr. Seuss film to be rated G by the MPAA, both How the Grinch Stole Christmas! and The Cat in the Hat were rated PG by the MPAA.
The film was directed by Jimmy Hayward and Steve Martino based on a screenplay written by Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul. The film was produced by Bob Gordon, Audrey Geisel, Christopher Meledandri and Chris Wedge. Christian Kaplan was the casting director and music was provided by John Powell. This is the second film Jim Carrey and Steve Carell have appeared in. Their first film together was the 2003 film Bruce Almighty.
