Free fall fun, tour the Long Beach Island Region's Scarecrow Row this fall
Ocean, NJ (October
n/a,2009) - Vote for your favorite as you visit local businesses and organizations throughout LBI is
happening in Ocean, New Jersey! Last fall, member businesses and municipalities worked together to create the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerces first Scarecrow Contest, which featured over 50 scarecrows who served as a freindly reminder to visitors that the LBI Region of the Jersey Shore was packed with upcoming fall and holiday events. Each scarecrow was judged on how it represented the organization that entered it. The ScareCrow contest began the first weekend of October to welcome the thousands coming into the area for Chowderfest and ran until the end of the month. The chamber had a Scarecrow Sighting Map in the Visitor Center located at 265 West Ninth Street and distributed a Scarecrow Row flyer listing all the locations of the registered scarecrows. This year, we are opening up voting to the public, vote for your favorite in person or online at the chamber website www.visitLBIregion.com. This event

The spelling bee is open to kids ages 8-14, who will compete collectively to answer the question, "Can Your Child Spell?" 3 winners from each of 4 locations win $250, $150, and $100 respectively.
