Local Gymnasts to Host Free Carnival
Ocean, NJ (September
12,2009) - Garden State Gymnastics kicks off the Tyson Fitness Challenge to Benefit Children’s Miracle Network is
happening in Ocean, New Jersey! Forked River, NJ (September 3, 2009) – Join Garden State Gymnastics on Saturday, September 12th for a free carnival from 1-4 p.m. in celebration of National Gymnastics Day. The carnival will feature inflatable rides, carnival games, crafts and fun in the newly renovated gym. There will also be fitness challenges throughout the event. Garden State Gymnastics joins United States Gymnastics Federations across the country in celebrating National Gymnastics Day and participating in the Tyson Fitness Challenge. “We will encourage families to focus on health and fitness and join us for a fun day,” commented Lori Tomenchok, Garden State Gymnastics Program Director. “Our gymnasts will be also be raising funds that day and in the coming weeks for Children’s Miracle Network.” Children’s Miracle Network is the beneficiary of the Tyson Fitness Challenge, as students collect pledges in support of all the obstacles they participate in. Locally, Children’s Miracle Network benefits Children's Specialized Hospital, the largest pediatric rehabilitation hospital in the country. Since partnering in 2001, USA Gymnastics and its gym clubs across the country have participated in the Tyson Fitness Challenge and raised more than $1 million for the 170 children’s hospitals that make up Children’s Miracle Network. The Tyson Fitness Challenge is a nationwide fitness initiative that encourages physical fitness through fun activity with an emphasis on strength training, cardiovascular exercise, flexibility and good nutrition. Bruce and Betty Petty, the new owners of Garden State Gymnastics said they are committed to participating in the Tyson Fitness Challenge as well as joining with Ocean County parents, schools and organizations in leading the race toward healthy lifestyles. “Gymnastics clubs are a fun and safe environment,” said Tomenchok. “The basics of gymnastics provide a solid foundation for becoming physically fit.
