Wildwood, NJ - Wildwood is once again the place to be at the Jersey Shore this weekend as one of New Jersey’s largest family playgrounds comes to life and kicks off the 2009 summer season. The 2nd Annual Wilwood Acroblast kicks off today as the International Aerobatic Club comes to the Jersey Shore. The competition starts Friday afternoon and will run through Sunday morning. Acroblast is an aWrial competition in which planes take to the skies to perform a series of maneuvers and stunts. Their performance is judged by a panel of judges on the ground.
This morning, pilots will continue practicing over the skies of Cape May and Wildwood. After a briefing today, the action unfolds overhead all day long. The planes will be stationed at the Cape May airport and will fly over Morey’s Piers in Wildwood. The IAC is a club which organizes sanctioned contests and cares for the sport.

This weekend is a great time to visit Wildwood as the town is hosting it’s Annual celebration of Italian-American heritage, food and music held in North Wildwood on Olde New Jersey Avenue to accompany the great beaches, boardwalks and of course this weekend’s Acroblast.
